    5 minutes
Introductory Activites/Warm-Up
  • Knee Tag
  • Stay low, knees bent
  • Fake and make quick movements
  • Extention: one arm behind the back





    30 minutes
Concept

Each pair should have 5 birdies
Each partner stands opposite on the court and then serves back and forth betwen each other Development

  • Long serve in pairs
  • Short serves in pairs

  • Pair up with the opposite sex
  • Serve to diagonally opposite court
  • Contact the birdie below the waist
  • Your swing should be smooth and include a follow through

  • The birdie should have a high trajectory 
  • Aim for the long service line and the end line
  • Low Serve (about 1 foot or lower above the net)
  • Very little follow through
  • Short stroke of the bird



    15 minutes
Culminating Activity
  • Doubles Team Play

  • Stay in partners of the opposite sex
  • Aim for rallying as opposed to point scoring
  • Practice different serving styles and see which works best in different situations
  • Use appropriate rules and lines according to proper doubles play




     5 minutes
Closure
  • Written test on Tuesday about rules and lines of the court
  • Serving test (10 tries to make as many complete serves as possible)
  • Short serves in hula hoops
  • Long serves between the end lines

  • Which serving style works best in which situations?
  • What are some key points of the short serve and why?
  • What are 2 rules about serving?
  • What side of the opposing players body is it better to serve to and why?
  • After all the equipment is put away
  • Have all the students sitting down in front of us 
  • Ask open ended questions
  • Ask if there is any feedback or questions they may have
