3 on 2 Rebound Game
Game/Task Outline

Tactical Problem:  The student will recognize attacking position both on the ball and of the ball.  The student will recognize the crucial off the ball movements.  The student will recognize the movements required after a shot.
Skill development:  TSWBAT shoot the ball accurately
                                 TSWBAT pass the ball accurately
TSWBAT move to space quickly and efficiently while calling for the ball

Teaching Points:
  • Player A shoots the ball to one of the defenders
  • Player A then goes to get the rebound and begins a mini game from there using the supporting players
  • Once the ball is shot and the shooter makes her move, the supporting players look for triangles to support the ball carrier
  • The offending team continues to play until they score or until the ball is out out of bounds
  • They then switch, and rotate in the third player
  • When one team is defending, its third player becomes a coach
  • Each round must start with an accurate shot to the defender

Organizational Points:
  • Use both large fields divided into four mini fields
  • divide teams by pinnies
  • Combine two teams of three from the previous activity
Equipment:
  • 6 soccer balls, cones in case the goals are inappropriate sizes
Extension:
  • Player C from the defending team joins them as an offender after the ball is scored or goes out of bounds
  • Then, A, B and C from the defending team become offenders and shoot the ball into the other teams net
  • offender. If blue started with the ball, blue would shoot the ball in and then use the rebound triangle sequence until they score or the ball goes out of bounds.  At speed, green would then shoot the ball into blue's defending zone and 2 blue players would become defenders.  The shooter from the blue team would sit out until blue won the ball back,  green scored or the ball was put out of bounds.  (3 on 2 continuous)
