Triangle Passing
Game/Task Outline
Tactical Problem: Teams must successfully create space so that they are able to pass the ball to their teammates while running in a open field.
Skill development:  TSWBAT pass the ball ahead of teammate into open space.
                                 TSWBAT receive a pass by moving into open space.

Teaching Points: 
  • communication-call for the ball
  • quick, effective movement
  • triangle passing angles
  • pass to team mate and then move to space in order to keep the triangle alive
  • always keep two options open for the ball carrier
  • try to see space
  • anticipate where the ball is going
  • keep your head up (avoid other classmates on the field)

Organizational Points:
  • use entire field for student to move in, avoid staying in confined areas to prevent injuries
Equipment:
  • 10 soccer balls
Extension:
  • keep the intensity of the activity very high (at a fast jog)
  • add a defender
  • increase the size of the triangle
Simplification:
  • start off in a stationary triangle and move from a walk to a slow jog
  • decrease triangle size
