Scope of a Basketball unit

Scope

This lesson was developed for a grade six/seven split class with varying skill levels. This is a four lesson unit to introduce and develop the use of tactics and skills within a basketball game.

Entry ability
- Knowledge of formal game rules
- Limited ability to dribble basketball
- Limited ability to pass the ball accurately
- Limited ability to shoot the ball with proper form and accuracy

Exit ability
- Knowledge of many informal lead-up games
- Ability to identify the need to seek open space and move to it
- Ability to use angles and numbers to create an advantage over an opponent
- Ability to pass the ball with a degree of accuracy
- Ability to shoot the ball with proper form and a degree of accuracy
