Tactical Problem: Stopping advancement of offence to avoid scoring of opposing team

Skill development: Stealing and checking the ball, and offence gets to work on dribble moves/fakes

Tactic:

1 vs. 1

  • Look at chest of offender
  • stay low with quick feet 

2 vs. 1

  • Stay between players
  • Guard space not the players
  • Use fake defensive moves to rattle the offensive players

  • Use lanes 7-10 feet wide
  • Groups of 2
  • Lanes are 10 yard long
  • Rotate positions

2 vs. 1

  • Use lanes 20 feet wide and 10-15 yards long
  • Groups of three
  • Rotate positions

Simplifications:

  • Half speed for offence
  • Make lane narrower

Extensions:

  • Wider lane
  • Add at goal at the end with a goalie
