Push Pass Drill
Tactical Problem: Passing and receiving around defender

Skill Development: One hand push pass, and passing around a defender

Teaching points:
Stationary Passing:
-same teaching points as chest and bounce passes for aiming aspects 
-use one hand to apply force and other to stabilize ball.
-step into pass
-follow through with arm extended and "hand-in-the-cookie-jar"

Passing to Moving Receiver: 
Receiver-hand as target and call for pass 
             -accelerate to meet ball at cone 
Passer   -square to target 
             -time pass to meet the receiver

"Pig-in-the-Middle" Game:
     -when covered by defender use push pass
     -pass by ear or knee of defender 
 

Organizational Points: 

-go with 2V2 teammate to half of Euroball area 
-pairs perform consecutive push  passes to each other across grid
-demo
-incorporate movement with passing by receiver running to a cone to catch a pass, passer then becomes receiver and runs to an unoccupied cone to receive ball back.
-demo
-back to movement drill
-bring pairs together for a 3V1 "pig-in-the-middle" game.
    -3 passers form a triangle around the defender 
     using cones 
    -demo
    -switch defenders

     
Modifications:
-volleyballs or basketballs
-increase or decrease passing distance
 
 
 
 
 
 

"Pig-in-the-middle-Rules:
1)  no overhead passing
2)  pivoting only for passers
3)  defender must go to ball
