Organizational Points:
  • Organize class into 6 teams of 5 (for a class of 30)
  • Using two full courts (if accessible, if not use half courts) 2 teams play five on five with two teams sitting out
  • Once a team scores 5 points or every 2 minutes the team that has been sitting off rotates in and the team with the least amount of points goes off
  • If there is a team that is constantly having to go off and sit out then introduce the condition that no team can stay on the court for more than three rotations in a row.

Extension:

  • Have the students who are sitting off fill out task cards on one of their peers on how they are performing the defensive sliding technique according to the cues on the sheet
  • When students come off they can look at the sheet to see what they can work on or how they are doing
