PARTNER

PASSING
Game/Task Outline

Tactical Problem: Trap and control a pass from your partner and the make a pass back to your partner who is stationary.
Skill development: TSWBAT pass a soccer ball in a controlled manner to a partner and receive pass and trap it. Passes will progress from just the instep of the foot to the outside and top of the foot as well.

Teaching points:
  • use the instep of the kicking foot (to start)
  • your non kicking foot should be placed next to the ball
  • square up to where you are passing to
  • keep ball on ground
  • cushion the ball with your foot to trap it by extending your foot to make contact and bringing it back towards your body as you make contact
  • stop ball with foot before passing back to partner (trap)
  • try alternating feet so you practice both feet
  • use more force for crisp passes
Organizational Points:
  • one student should be on the 18 yard line extended, and his partner should be on the end line
  • make a triangle with approximately the same amount of space if there are groups of three
  • number partners one and two "one's get a ball, two's find a space on the end line"
