RECEIVE, PIVOT,

PASS
Game/Task Outline

Tactical Problem: Trap and control a pass from your partner and then pivot (alternate directions) and make a pass to your other partner..
Skill development: TSWBAT recieve a pass from a partner, trap it, pivot with the ball and complete a pass to his other partner on his other side.

Teaching points:
  • use the instep of the kicking foot to pass and also to receive the ball when trapping it.
  • pivot on the same foot as you trap the ball with, while using your non trapping foot to turn the ball and bring it with you
  • keep ball on ground
  • pretend that you are turning around an opponent and use your body to shield the ball from the imaginary opponent
  • cushion the ball with your foot to trap it by extending your foot to make contact and bringing it back towards your body as you make contact
  • try alternating feet so you practice both feet
  • use more force for crisp passes
  • try pivoting faster as you get more comfortable
Organizational Points:
  • one student should be on the 18 yard line extended, and another student should be on the goal line while the third person should be in between the two.
  • if there are groups of 4 instead of 3 then add more space between each student and spread down the field a little more using two players as pivot people
