Tactical Problem: Knowing where to place the ball.  Awareness of your teammates. How to score. Knowing how to use the overhead pass and forearm pass in a game situation.
Skill development: Proper forearm and overhead passing technique.  Passing to a target.  Placing ball in open space on opponents court.

Teaching Points: 

 Tactic: 
 Ball must be hit high to teammate to allow for more time for correct positioning. Importance of ability to change direction and distance of the ball when passing.

 Must get behind the ball and face up to the target. 

Passing accurately to team mates to allow for set up to attack and score.

Skill:

  • Place hands on hips, thumbs pointing back, fingers spread.
  • Keeping hands in same position, lift hands and look through window made by index fingers and thumbs (about 5 cm. apart). 
  • Hands slightly above forehead.
  • Head up and keep eyes on ball.
  • Move under the ball.
  • Contact ball with fingertips
  • Keep elbows flexed and wide.
  • Place weight evenly on both feet, knees bent, feet shoulder width apart.

  • Arms give while watching ball.

 

 

Organizational Points: 
  • Groups of three verses three.
  • One player gets beachball.
  • Remaining teammembers find appropriate space on courts (1/2 court per 2 teams).
  • Modify service line.
  • No player may hit ball twice in succession.
  • Each time ball lands on you score, you receive a letter of the word B.I.N.G.O (ie Donkey rules).
  • First team to spell BINGO, WINS.
  • Modify courts and start again, losing team gets smaller court.
Decide:
  • Number of hits per side.
  • Allow volleying or forearm passing.
Extension:
  • Use a nerf or volleyball.
