Intersection

Tactical Problem: Move to open space by running and passing a ball.

Skill development: Starting and stopping, use of change of direction and passing to a partner.


Exercise Objective:
  • Get into pairs or groups of 3 and number each other. Number 1's get a rugby ball. Within the gym move to different intersecting court lines. When the player stops and presents a target, pass the ball and move to a new intersection.

Teaching Cues:

  • Keep head up
  • Extend target arms

Organizational Points: 

Organize players into groups. Works best inside the gym because of line use. Can be modified outdoors by the use of random cones.

The ball used is a rugby ball but it can be switched to any type of object. Examples include a bean bag, a soccer ball or a frisbee.
