Lesson 1
Introductory Task:
- Passing over net in Partners
Administration
- Divide class into partners; number themselves 1 & 2
- Number 1's find an area along the net; number 2's collect a ball and meet partner at net
Progressions
- progressions should be introduced to individual groups when the teacher thinks it is appropriate.
- Forearm passing over the net to each other.
- if students are having trouble making it over the net move them into a space without a net or allowing the ball to bounce once before passing it over the net.
- to increase difficulty introduce movement, such as retreating to the 3 meter line after completing a pass, then returning to a position to receive another pass.
2. Forearm pass to themselves, followed by another forearm pass over the net.
- if students are having trouble completing the sequence have them simply overhead pass the ball back and forth without using a forearm pass.
- allowing a bounce would be difficult because the ball would probably not bounce high enough for the student to comfortably execute the skill.
3. A final progression would be forearm passing the ball three times, twice to themselves and once over the net.
- few of the students will reach this stage.
