Assessment
Student Learning
-
The students will gradually learn the
rules and correct ways to think about what is needed to be successful by
the conditions set down by the teacher
-
By changing the rules of the game and exaggerating the
playing conditions you can almost ensure that the students will address
the question, " What must I do to succeed in this situation?"
-
This type of question you can also ask the students directly
-
At this time other questions related to 'why'
certain skills are required might also be appropriate.
-
After students become aware of what they need to do and
why, you can question them about how to perform the necessary skills
-
Assessment would entail looking at appropriate learning
outcomes and whether or not this was achieved by the students
-
Assessment would take the form of written exams (where
students would demonstrate knowledge of various tactics required in different
situations), and the students would be required to show a practical ability
to perform the skills. I would consider using a marks breakdown of
15%
for participation (5% for being a monitor), 45% skill - consideration
of progression is important here, and 40% for a skill and tactics
test. ( as this is only a 4 lesson unit- assessment ideas can be viewed
below.
