Practice Progression
1.Skill(bump or set) to self – allow
a bounce for those that struggle.
2.Use wall to SKILL to self then
to wall then to self ...etc.
3.Partner throw feed. Feeder
make partner move.
4.Skill to self then to partner
in a rally
5.Return to “over-space” with a
one on one game
6.Extend to “over-space” game with
a two on two games, double the court area. Limit to 3 touches each
pair.
Application game: In 2 on 2 “over-space”
game focus on setting up for attack by getting ball to partner. Ask
students to
decide how they score, how they start and re-start
the game. Ball must be hit upwards above head height. Play
up to four
points. Winning players court is made 1
m wider and longer. Control the number of contacts and the contact
types. This will depend on group, skill, and ability.
Teaching Reminders
Tell the group where
to stand to give demonstration. Make sure they can see the model.
Recommend that you use
a demonstrator from the class that you can talk about.
Send the students to
an area to practice, a safe space. Say, “Annnnnd STOP,” to add on
extensions to the skill as you
progress towards the
application game.
Give feedback to students
as do skill.
Modify activity (“Modify
complexity”) for individuals to extend or simplify based on needs.
