Equipment
  • Know equipment needs prior to each lesson
  • Have modification plans in mind for equipment as to adapt it to the needs of the class
  • Have equipment set up prior to the start of each lesson
  • Ensure equipment is all in good and safe working order
  • Students should be responsible for assembling and dismantling equipment

Teacher positioning
  • Position yourself as to minimize distractions when explaining tasks or giving demonstrations
  • Don't have your back turned to anyone
  • During activities position yourself so that you are able to see entire space as to monitor students

Lesson structure
  • Teacher preparedness
  • Always carry a lesson plan outline to refer to
  • Minimize transition and down time to maximize student participation and learning
  • Clearly describe activities and keep demos short
  • Use appropriate teaching styles for the given activities including teaching supports such as inclusion style task sheets or reciprocal style criteria sheets

Teaching space
  • Know facility space prior to start of lesson
  • Effective use of space can enhance student learning by allowing for maximum participation
  • Ensure safety of facility prior to the start of the lesson
