Student teaching and peer assessment process:                     (20%)

Requirements – Tick boxes as items completed.

q  Each person in the pair (group) must teach a portion of the lesson on his or her own.  Partner will observe, making notes based on instructor’s comments and his or her observations.

q  Complete an equipment list for your lesson at least 24 hours before you teach.  The equipment request form obtained from the equipment room should have your name with (c/o Tim Hopper), PE452, and with time and date when your pair will teach.

q  Make a copy of your lesson plan to be handed in to Dr. Hopper prior to teaching.  This lesson plan will be returned, with comments by the next class.  If your lesson plan is not acceptable it will have to be redone until acceptable.  Ensure lesson plans have Objectives (CAPS), Task progression with cues, Management tasks, Organization equipment and space, Phases of a lesson and Closure evaluation.

q  After completing the lessons write out a reflection on your teaching.  To structure your reflection I suggest answering the following questions:

o       What did you do as a teacher?

o       What did your students learn?

§         How do you know?

o       Why did the learning happen?

§         How could you develop student’s learning?

q  Include your lesson plans with reflections and observation forms.  To be handed in no later than Thursday, Nov 13..
