Scooping On-the-ball skill

 

Skill phases for Scooping

  1. Prep: Eyes focused on the ball. Place the foot opposite top hand beside the ball.

  2. Wind-Up: Move the stick across the body and place the back of the pocket on the ground slightly outside the line of body. This action is mainly controlled with the top hand. The grip should not alter through this action.

  3. Force: Knees are bent and the body is in a semi-crouched position. Angle of the stick should be approximately 30˚. The stick contacts the ground approximately 10cm before the ball and slides under the ball.

  4. Follow Through: The stick head should then be brought up towards the chest. Finally, the top hand and arm moves the stick back to the stick side as a step is taken with the left foot.
