Scope

Introduction

The entry and exit outcomes are a reflection of the learning outcomes described in the BCIRP for grade 8-10 physical education combined with feedback received from an observational class instructed by Richard Primrose at St. Michael's University School.



Entry ability-For a 2 vs 0 passing and receiving game--> 4 Goal Contest

Psychomotor

    *Ability to send, receive and retain object with a moderate level of speed, accuracy and distance

    *Ability to perform basic motor skills such as running, stopping, changing direction


Cognitive

    *Inconsistent decisions regarding when it is appropriate to pass

    *Inconsistent decisions on where to be positioned while off-the-ball

    *Inconsistent ability to apply both offensive and defensive on-the ball and off-the ball strategies

    *Ability to recognize appropriate motor skill to utilize during play


Social

   *Ability to recognize and obey rules and routines in a safe and effective manner

    *Demonstrate some positive behaviors pertaining to self-confidence and respect

    *Demonstrate some positive behaviors pertaining to others differing abilities and  cultural backgrounds

    *Demonstrate the ability to communicate and work effectively in partners and groups

    *Begin to demonstrate leadership skills

  


Exit ability-For a 4 vs 4 or 5 vs 5 half field game with no goalie-->Mini Game, Large Ball

Psychomotor

    *Ability to perform basic motor skills such as running, stopping, changing direction with increased efficiency


Cognitive

   *Ability to demonstrate appropriate decisions regarding the timing of passes

    *Demonstrate increased awareness of appropriate positioning while off-the-ball

    *Show an increased understanding of both offensive and defensive on-the-ball and off-the-ball strategies

    *Heightened ability to choose appropriate motor skills to utilize during play


Social

    *Ability to recognize, explain and obey the rules and routines in a safe and effective manner

    *Show an increased level of positive behaviors reflected in increased self-confidence and respect

    *Show an increased level of positive behaviors reflected in an increased recognition and respect of differing others abilities and cultural backgrounds

    *Demonstrate a heightened ability and willingness to communicate and work effectively in partners and groups

    *Demonstrate and initiate leadership roles

A four lesson introductory unit of field hockey constructed for a class of 18 grade 9 girls. Focus is on increased tactical awareness with improvement of both on-the-ball and off-the-ball skills.
