Lesson 2 - Topic of learning: Basic skills of creating cuts (L cut, straight cuts and curl cuts)
Tactical Problem - what are some ways of getting open when on offence?
-performing cuts, eluding defenders, changing speeds
Aim: “It” team tags opponents with a ball to get them on their team, until there is one opponent left
Skills required
-Reviews passing and catching skills
-Gets body moving and blood flowing
-Focuses on positioning yourself to get the ball to a moving target
-Eluding defenders
-Working as a team
-Developing strategies to tag people
-Practice moving to open space
Cuts: off the ball - L cut, Curl cut, Straight cut
Aim: To perform efficient cuts that could be executed in a game of touch football
Skill requirements
-How can off the ball movements get myself open or confuse the defence to get someone else open?
-Change of direction
-Change of speed
-Communication with teammates before execution
-Elude defenders
Aim: to advance through the gate to get to the end zone, without getting your flag belts pulled
Skills required
-Focus on eluding defenders by using a cut or distraction
-Using a decoy: have a defender focus on more then one player
-Defenders try to anticipate offensive movements
-Learn to pull flags
-Focus on the core
-Progress to playing Chinese gates with footballs: offensive players try to advance the ball to the opposite end without getting their flags pulled
