STAGES OF GAMES PLAYING

 

Stage One

• concentrate on acquiring basic locomotor and manipulative skills

• games should involve single motor skills or very simple combinations of motor skills

• children at this age are individualistic so interactions in games play should be very simple.

 

Stage Two

• concentrate on refining basic locomotor and manipulative skills. Skills can be performed with more speed and precision.

• games should be more organized and challenging

• games should allow more complex relationships.

 

Stage Three

• locomotor and manipulative skills are under control

• shift from concentrating on performing the motor skill to implementing simple games offensive and defensive strategies

• most lead-up games fall into this stage of development.

 

Stage Four

• adult versions of games.
