ATTACK and PROTECT
Game/Task Outline
Tactical Problem: Each student must maintain possession of  their own soccer ball while attempting to disturb other players.
Skill development: TSWBAT effectively maintain possession of the ball (on the ball skills) by dribbling and finding the open space.
  • Teaching points:
    • players attempt to knock opponents balls out of bounds (out of the coned off area)
    • keep ball close to feet (not too far in front of player)
    • begin at a walk and progress from medium to full speed
    • have students keep track of the number of times their ball gets knocked out of the designated area
    • goal = to maintain possession of your ball while moving around the grid and getting it knocked out the least amount of times
    Organizational Points: 
    • Area must be clearly outlined with cones so that all students are aware of the boundaries
    • area should be a suitable size for the number of participants
    • students should have enough space to safely dribble the ball at a high speed without too much collision!!
    • if there are not enough soccer balls for all of the students in the class then some players can be "attackers only" and rotated throught this role
