Magnetism in Materials and Medicine

Content: The course will cover the history of magnetism, theory from the origin of spin to exchange interactions and long range ordering phenomena, magnetoreception, the role of magnetism in astrophysics, applications in material science for data storage and spintronics; and applications in medicine including MRI and cancer therapies.

Delivery: Eight one-hour lectures.

Assessment: One-hour written assignment, in class.
