The Malahat Review Wins Two National Magazine Awards!

The National Magazine Awards Foundation gala took place in Toronto on Friday, June 6, 2014, and we are thrilled to announce that two Malahat contributors are among the winners:

for “Keeper of the Marks”
in Issue #184, Autumn 2013

The Malahat has never before won a Gold award for Personal Journalism and it is our first win in the Profiles category. 

Liz Windhorst Harmer's “Blip” has already been singled out for well-deserved recognition once before. John Vaillant chose it as the winner of the Malahat's 2013 Constance Rooke Creative Nonfiction Prize. She also received an honourable mention in the National Magazine Awards’ Best New Magazine Writer category for an article in The New Quarterly.

The Malahat received an honourable mention in the NMA’s poetry category for Sina Queyras’ “Like a Jet,” which appeared in Issue #184, Autumn 2013. “Like a Jet” has also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, one of the most prestigious literary-magazine awards in the world, with her poem in the annual Pushcart anthology in 2015.
