Candlelight Kisses
An Amateur Reading of P. K. PageI love her words, she said,
Reading Salt Mines and Rain
As she sipped my wine
And handed me
A clove-flavoured cigarette
To suck and hold.
I love her words, she said,
Is that enough?
While pouring
Her glorious hair
Onto the page of Page.
Her eyes grew dim
As she lowered her hands
And hid them
In the shadows of candlelight,
Her hands so soft,
So soft I could taste them,
Caressed the images
Which her tongue could not speak.
I love her words, she said,
As she gave them to me
With a single tear.
