This is a microhistorical website created as a History
481 project at the University of Victoria. A microhistorical approach
can be described as the reduction of the scale of observation. The goal
in reducing the scale of observation is to illuminate features unobserved
at the macroscopic level. This process often challenges the macrohistorical
view of history. The main objective of the site is to examine how Queen
Victoria's death was viewed through the eyes of the citizens of Victoria.
The sympathy expressed by the city is an example of Victoria's loyalty
to the British Monarch.
