Short Bio
I am a computational neuroscientist with a prior research focus on fMRI of language in normal and patient populations. I am currently an Assistant Teaching Professor and Undergraduate Advisor in the Psychology Department at UVic teaching a variety of courses, focusing mainly on Statistics and courses within the Mind and Brain Stream (e.g., Cognitive, Neuropsychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Biopsychology) and Lifespan Stream.
Prior to returning to Victoria, I was an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. My research focussed on functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging of both normal and patient populations, especially in terms of language processing. I was the primary PI on a stroke rehabilitation grant focusing on constraint induced language relearning.
I completed my Postdoctoral work at the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition (CNBC) with Jay McClelland. There, my research focused on using Bayesian approaches to unsupervised learning in connectionist networks.
I completed my graduate work with Mike Dawson in the Biological Computation Project (BCP) in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alberta where I completed my thesis on Connectionist networks.
