Chapter 7

1. I would resign but I have too many responsibilities at home. Who would earn money? Who would pay for our food? The children would go to school without breakfast... That would be terrible and we would be bad parents.

2. Next year I will go to a famous music school in Venice and Giovanni will attend an art school in Florence. We will meet in Bologna every week to spend some time together. We must resign ourselves to this enormous change in order to fulfill our dreams.

3. She will probably say it as a joke, but he will take it seriously. He will get mad and they will fight for two hours and we will exchange pained looks. You see? I know already how this situtation will end. We will not have a good time, I promise you!

4. They should devote themselves to the study of painting as they had originally decided. They have too many plans and if they continue like this, they will worry their parents greatly. The mother is already unhappy with their choices. She has probably had enough (by now) of their stories!

5. As a young boy he would often visit his grandparents. At twelve years old, he refused to go anymore because he missed his friends and because the grandparents never gave him any small change with which to buy candies. Also, his grandfather told silly jokes
