ICP-MS Facility

• The School of Earth and Ocean Science's ICP-MS and Laser Ablation facility is equipped with two quadrupole Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) Mass Spectrometers (X-Series II, and PQ2+S), a laser ablation system (UP-213), and various liquid sample introduction systems.
• The facility is available for elemental analysis of a wide range of solid and liquid materials (typical samples include surface waters, seawater, geological materials, environmental samples (such as soils and sediments), biological materials, and synthetic materials).
• Any researcher with an interest in using the facilities is encouraged to contact the lab manager (Dr. Jody Spence; icpmslab@uvic.ca) to discuss potential analytical projects. Innovative or unusual applications are welcomed.
