PRESSURE PASSING AND RECEIVING

Tactical Problem: Successfully passing the football to a teammate when receiver is being marked and passer is being
                              pressured by a defender.
Skill development: Guarding / marking & getting open.
                                Working under pressure.

Teaching Point:

Tactic

  • Accurate passing and receiving when being marked.
  • Strong defensive positioning.

Skill

  • Communication between offensive players.
  • Strong shadowing of offense by defense.
  • Passer learns to make quick desisions and is forced to make a pass while being pressured by a defender.

Organizational Points:
  • Start in a large playing field.
  • Passer (Quarterback) has five seconds to make decision and pass the football before being pressured by a defender.
Extensions:
  • Reduce playing field.
  • Reduce time quarterback has to make decision and pass the ball.  (Pressured sooner.)
