Assessment Strategy
Participation:
-
Participation marks are based
on attendance, attitude, involvement in class, and appropriate behaviour.
-
Participation will be worth

-
Everyday, each student who attends
class starts with 5 out of 5. Students who exhibit inappropriate
behaviour (for example, lack of gym strip, speaking out of turn, or inappropriate
physical contact) will lose marks based on the severity of the offense.
(See Managerial Routines for progression
of consequences of inappropriate behaviour.)
Skill Testing:
-
The teacher will assessment
of skills through controlled-environment tests such as passing accuracy
to a target. The teacher will also informally assess the students
through observation of game play; through this observation, a student's
controlled-environment test mark can only be improved upon.
-
The skill testing mark will
be worth 20% of the final grade.
Games Performance Assessment
Instrument (GPAI):
-
The GPAI
will be used by students to observe and rate each other's game performance
for all applicable units.
-
The teacher will form a mark
based on the GPAI results.
-
The GPAI mark will be worth
20% of the final grade.
-
See
modified GPAI for this handball unit.

-
Students will be given various
types of projects throughout the school year. For example, watching
a handball game and making observations about game play and tactics; researching
a sports person or a sports organization; researching a health (nutrition,
