More on and off-ball movement drills

Passing

Activity 1:

In partners, passing back and forth, adding simple progressions, like shuffling side to side. Can work on shoulder push pass (as seen in video example below), chest pass, or bounce pass.

Teaching Cues for push pass:

  1. -Feet shoulder width apart, as passer step into the pass towards target.

  2. -Both hands on the ball passing hand behind the ball, off hand supporting on the side.

  3. -Extend through towards the target.

Activity 2:

Students work in groups of 3 in a four corner grid, one person in middle, while other two work around the four corners. Person in the middle is trying to come up with the ball, while the outside players are working on both on-ball and off-ball movements, as well as basic throwing and catching skills.

*Depending on success rate area can be made smaller or larger to increase effectiveness of the drill.
