Elizabeth Banister

Elizabeth Banister is a Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria. Her research interests include adolescent sexual health education, adolescent relational aggression, mentoring, and knowledge translation. She is principal investigator of two projects including a multidisciplinary SSHRC project examining literature on innovative practices of youth-directed projects pertaining to youth health and well-being. She developed a manual on promoting healthy teen relationships published in Handbook of evidence-based child and adolescent treatment manuals (2008). She also developed two brochures on adolescent dating relationships. Dr. Banister serves on the Advisory Board (IAB) for the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health. She has published articles in Canadian Journal of Native Education, Qualitative Inquiry, Canadian Journal of Nursing Research, Journal of Youth and Adolescence, and Women’s Health and Urban Life. She is lead editor for a forthcoming volume on community-based approaches to knowledge translation.
