Introduction to ecology and biotic processes in relation to environmental challenges
This foundational course introduces students to the discipline of ecology with a strong emphasis on understanding biotic (living) processes and how they relate to contemporary environmental issues.
Topics typically include population dynamics, community ecology, ecosystem processes, and the application of ecological principles to real-world problems such as biodiversity loss, climate change, and habitat restoration. NOTE: Dr. Volpe offers this class in a compressed 3-week format, asynchronous and completley online, in May each year. ES240 is taught by other ES faculty during the regualr school year.
