Chapter 4

1. My brother-in-law rented the boat to the tourists but they stole it. Poor Giacomo! He has never been robbed before -- he told (it) to everyone, but no one believed him.

2. I can never remember to call Susanna. I just don't understand it... Stefano, can you remind me to call her this evening?

3.(a) We went to visit Aunt Loretta and she asked us to help her with the household chores. I am very fond of her, but I cannot tolerate when someone asks me to clean.

(b) Certainly, I must have a good relationship with her. If I behave well, and if she trusts me, she will bequeath a lot of money to me when she makes her will...

4. They met, they felt comfortable together, they loved each other (do not use amare), they married, they fought and now they are divorced. They did not know each other well enough! --I believe it!

5. Mr. Rugani spoke to us about the apartment. He wants to rent it, furnished, to his children, who are studying humanities at the university. The furniture is from his maternal grandmother.
