Management Suggestions

1) Equipment: Music ( "Fireworks and Jig" by Allan Menken also found in Sally Carline's book), CD player, claves, tambourine, bells, The Uninvited Guest" from The Mystery of Harris Burdick by Chris VanAllsburg

2) Teaching Space: A large open space such as the gymnasium or a large multi-purpose room

3) Grouping: The teacher should always divide the class into partners based on knowing which students work well together.  If partners do not work with your particular class, you can assign half the class to be "As" and the other half to be "Bs"

5) Pacing: The first lesson should focus on exploring personal space and moving to a steady beat.  From this point on, focus can shift to exploring action words such as peek, creep, and skip, etc... using instruments and the music to guide the movements.  Students can then explore creating their own ending for the final lesson while incorporating the elements of creative movement they have learned previously.
