Texts

As you may know, there are some difficulties relating to the presentation of special characters such as vowels with macrons on Web pages. Some texts are therefore presented in two forms:

  1. As a graphic [G]. Any browser will show this form correctly,
  2. As a Unicode Web page [U]. Any Unicode-enabled computer with a Unicode font (e.g. MS Windows 2000 running Office 2000) should show this document correctly.

Try the Unicode version to see if it works on your computer. If not, you can use the graphical version. Both should be printable.

Other texts are presented without macrons, but are heavily marked-up to make them interactive -- this enables you to (for example) highlight all the nouns in the text automatically, or access an "instant translation" by clicking on the text. You will need a recent browser (NS6 on Mac; NS6 or IE5.5 on Windows) to see these pages.
