I have a BA from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.Sc. from the University of Hawaii and an Ed.D. from Temple University Japan. I have been a teacher of English as a second or foreign language for many years and in various countries, and have taught American and Canadian university courses in Second Language Acquisition, Issues in Applied Linguistics, Pragmatics and Problems of International Communication, and Bilingualism. I have also edited a professional journal (the JALT Journal), served on the TESOL Quarterly editorial board, served as Chair and Nominating Committee Chair, for the Applied Linguistics Interest Section of TESOL, and have been additional reader for a number of academic journals and publishing houses. I have presented papers and invited talks at international conferences and published a number of books and articles on teaching, second language acquisition processes, bilingualism and CALL (computer assisted language learning). I taught at Senshu University, Kanagawa, Japan for many years and retired as full professor in 2009. I am in now Victoria, BC, Canada.
