Managerial Routines
1) Equipment
- One soccer ball per student or
one ball per group for some activities.
- Cones to mark playing area.
- Cones for soccer goals.
- Pinnies for team games.
2) Procedures
- Meet in the centre circle in the
middle of the gym until everyone is changed and ready to play.
- Give a brief overview of what
will be happening in the days class.
- Assign two individuals to take
soccer equipment outside, along with the rest of the class.
3) Groupings
- Allow students to partner up for
some activities.
- Number the students and make sure
instructions are clear to who is in what group and where each group goes (assign
grids).
- Make sure members of the groups
change as well as individual grid positions so students get to play with different
people and in different spaces.
- If there are odd numbers, make
sure the same person isn't always left out.
4) Classroom rules
- Come to class on time in appropriate
gym strip.
- Students without strip go to resource
room to do lines and work.
- Children are required to go to
the washroom while getting changed.
- Students must raise hand to talk
or ask a question.
- Teacher will not give instructions
until students are quiet and listening.
- Students not listening or off-task
do 5 push-ups/ jumping jacks.
- Students must work cooperatively
and treat each other with respect.
- All equipment must be returned
and accounted for before dismissal.
- If not participating in class,
a note must be supplied, if no note is supplied, student must observe the
class and write out everything that is done in class, and hand it in to the
teacher at the end of class.
