Deadlines for the 2019 Spring Fair

On-line Registration: Thursday February 28, 2019
This includes: student info, project info - titles, etc.
              No projects will be accepted after the deadline.

Deadline for receipt of Registration Package: Thursday, March 14, 2019
Check the schedule below and the report format on the rules & project guidelines page.

This information returned for registration MUST include:
    • parents’ signatures
    • option selected for ‘permission to leave the premises’
        (from both sets of parents for a dual project)
    • the sponsor teacher’s signature
    • declaration form
All of the above are in the registration package

    • two (2) print copies of the summary report PLUS mail a PDF copy to rmmarx@uvic.ca
      NOTE: The PDF file name must begin with the student's "lastname_firstname"
    • $25 registration fee
         Make cheques out to the Vancouver Island Regional Science Fair

THESE ARE FIRM DEADLINES – NO EXCEPTIONS

No project will be allowed in the fair if your registrations, information package and fees are not complete by the stated deadlines.

Send your completed registration package, obtained on the FORMS page, to the address given on the "Contact Us" page (and in the Information Package). Note that student registration for the 2019 fair will be ONLINE. Students will not receive confirmation following registration - just come to the fair! Only students that are denied entry will be notified.

Fair Schedule and Location – (Get a PDF copy of the Science Fair Schedule )

The Fair will be run in the lobby of Elliott Lecture Wing at the University of Victoria.
You can download a Campus Map (2.5 MB). The Elliott Building is located at grid C4. The nearest public parking is in Lot #1 - grid D4. The MacLaurin Building is in grid B4. The Bob Wright Centre (Earth and Ocean Sciences) is in grid C4 close to the Elliott Building.

Top Overall Winners meet with SAYS officials to receive forms for CWSF.

Exhibits dismantled by 4:00pm.

Parents and Teachers

  • Only entrants and judges are permitted in the building during the first round of judging on Sunday from 10:00 - 12:00 . In order to ensure that the participants are judged fairly, everyone else must leave the building. The public is welcome during the 2nd round of judging but must not interfere with judging that may take place from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.

Parents

  • Students will be required to supply their own lunches each day they are on site. Vending machines are also available within the building for snacks.

Students

  • During the judging and at times during public viewing there may be periods when you will be waiting. It is a good idea to bring a book to read or something to work on during this time.
