Management Suggestions      

1) Equipment 

  • CD player, music: Tchaikovsky's Trépak

  • Drums, tambourines, percussion instruments

2) Teaching Space

  • Make sure gym is empty and clear (benches, gymnastics equipment, anything students would try to hide behind)

3) Support materials

  • Literature related to playing, hide and seek, recess, playground dynamics

  • Skipping games, activities involving personal space and relationships

  • Ready-to-Use PE activities K-2

4) Grouping

  • Partners - make sure you select partners appropriately

  • Students work with partner given or they do not participate

  • Change partners each class to allow students to work with a variety of their peers

5) Pacing

  • Depends on class

  • Probably will take 4-6 lessons to teach entire movement sequence
