Tactical Problem:   Setting up to attack.
Skill Development :   Accurate forearm pass to setter.
  Setter opens up and sets.
  Successful transition from passer to attacker.

Teaching Points

Tactic

  • Move body behind ball.
  • Return to base position
  • Anticipate direction of pass

Skill

  • Lift with legs.
  • Shrug shoulders.
  • Arms straight.
  • Stand underneath and slightly behind the ball.

Organizational Points

  • Groups of 3 students
  • Rotate after each rally.
  • Two games can be played on one court.

Questions:

Q: What direction does the setter face when the ball is on the other side of the net?
A: Face the net.

Q: What does the hitter do as the ball crosses the net?
A: Turn and move off the net.

Q: What is the hitters role in the game?
A: To spike the ball.
