Lesson 3 - 3 vs. 3

Tactical Problem:   Winning the point.
Skill Development :   Quick transition off the net to allow time for a proper spike approach.

Teaching Points

Tactic

  • Move off net if opposing team is not spiking.
  • Return to base position.
  • Open up to court.

Skill

  • Point feet towards setter.
  • Step with back foot first.
  • Land on heels and roll forward.
  • Jump off two feet.

Organizational Points

  • Groups of 3 students
  • Rotate after each rally.
  • Two games can be played on one court.

Questions:

Q: What is the hitters base position at the net?
A: Face the net.

Q: Why does the hitter want to face the net?
A: To see how play develops on opponents side and to block bad passes.

Q: Why does the hitter open up to the court?
A: To see if a bad pass is made.
