Teaching Points

Tactic

  • Face net when ball is on other side of court.
  • Face team when ball in on own side of court.
  • Stand close to net.

Skill

  • Fully extend arms when setting.
  • Push with legs for power.
  • Cup fingers around ball for accuracy.

Organizational Points

  • Groups of 3 students
  • Rotate after each rally.
  • Two games can be played on one court.

Questions:

Q: Where does the setter always start?
A: Close to the net.

Q: Why does the setter start close to the net?
A: The setter is always moving away from the net therefore the setter won't touch the net.

Q: Why does the setter need to make a good set?
A: So that the hitter can spike the ball and score a point.
