Lesson 2- 3 vs. 3 Over Space Game

Tactical Problem:   Setting up to attack.
Skill Development :   Accurate forearm pass to setter.
  Setter opens up and sets.
  Successful transition from passer to attacker.

Teaching Points

Tactic

  • Move body behind ball.
  • Return to base position
  • Anticipate direction of pass

Skill

  • Lift with legs.
  • Shrug shoulders.
  • Arms straight.

Organizational Points

  • Groups of three students
  • Rotate after each rally.
  • Space should be big enough that the ball cannot be hit straight down.
  • Free balls have to be sent over the space above head height.

Questions:

Q: What initiates an attack?
A: A good forearm pass to the setter.

Q: How do you perform the the forearm pass?
A: Lift with the legs, flat platform.

Q: What else has to be done before an attack?
A: A Good set.
