Artworks are from a children’s centre in the Kurdish Territories. Local supporting organization is the Kurdistan Save the Children Fund (KSC), in Suleimaniyah Province, Kurdistan-Iraq 42 drawing, 40cmx60cm are being transported through London, U.K. Kurdistan Save the Children has established a Centre for Children "Kaziwa" in Sulaimany.

The Chief Coordinator is Dana Hussein. Zhiyan Ahmad, of KSC coordinated the collection and transporting of the art works. The postal services in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq had been cut off by Saddam Hussein's Government since the end of 1991. The only possible way of the communication with the outside world for the people in this region has been either by fax, telephone, Internet or the courtesy of travelling individuals. Zhyan Ahmed has organized the translation of the text supplied by the children that will accompany their art works. ·

These contacts were made as part of a larger effort to create linkages between the University of Victoria and schools in Kurdistan, including the University of Sulaimany. · Our original Kurdish-Iraq contact is Lydia Shashwar, a visiting professor from the University of Sulaimany presently working at the University of Toronto.
