Introductory Game: Capture the Flag
Game #1: Corner Passing
Review Game: Directional Keep Away
Culmination Game: Outlet Pass
Tactical/Skill Development:
In this lesson we are focusing on two main tactical abilities: Supporting and Covering.
Supporting - off-the-ball movement to a position to receive a pass when the player’s team has
possession
Covering - defensive movement in relation to the object being played by the opponent or
providing defensive help for a player making a play on the ball
These abilities address the tactical problems of when, where, and in relation to other players while on offense (supporting) or defense (covering).
A particular tactical problem this lesson addresses is when and where to send the ball, and when and where to move to get open for the ball, in order to use the outlet pass to facilitate an aggressive counterattack.
The skills used to address these tactical problems that are being developed in this lesson include base, receiving and sending the ball, and retaining the ball.
