Scope & Sequence
Scope:
Our “International Soccer Unit” plan consists of four introductory lessons designed for a co-ed class of grade 8 students possessing various levels of ability and experience.
Using the principles of TGFU, our unit plan is intended to introduce fundamental on-ball and off-ball skills as well as basic offensive and defensive tactics. The increased development of tactical awareness and decision making skills, through game- like exaggeration and representation activities, is intended to provide a more stimulating learning environment, different than the traditional static, boring out-of-context skill development.
The principles of TGFU were used in order to: increase the enjoyment and interest of participants, increase the knowledge of participants (in order to increase their ability to execute motor skills), provide the ability to transfer game knowledge to other PE units (invasion games) and most importantly: to have FUN!! (positive experiences will beget further participation)
Sequence:

The sequence of activities and lessons were designed to progress in difficulty and complexity while maintaining an environment that is challenging to all (no frustration or boredom created). Our sequence used the principles of TGFU to target all learning domains simultaneously (cognitive, affective, psychomotor, social) while having FUN.
" When the fun goes out of play, most often so does the learning".
