Charlotte Ellis

Charlotte was born and raised in South East London, until 2012, when she moved west to study for an MSci in Chemistry at the University of Bristol. For her final year Master’s project, Charlotte studied iron-catalysed carbon-heteroatom bond-forming reactions, under the supervision of Robin Bedford. In 2016, Charlotte joined the Centre for Doctoral Training in Catalysis, hosted by Cardiff University, the University of Bath and the University of Bristol. During this time, Charlotte delved into research at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where she worked on shape-programming stimuli-responsive hydrogels under the supervision of Richard Trask. Charlotte then joined the Manners group, where her research focused on the catalytic application of micelle-based materials. After graduating with an MRes in Catalysis in 2017, Charlotte re-joined the Manners group to pursue her interest in nanoscience. Her PhD research is focused on the preparation and application of micelle-based materials. In 2019, Charlotte transferred to the University of Victoria, Canada, along with the Manners group, to continue her PhD. Outside of research, Charlotte enjoys rock climbing, bird watching, and learning about astronomy.
