Diego Garcia Hernandez





Diego was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, an ex-mining town, which now has the only night club inside a mine. He began his university studies in Zacatecas but soon moved to Mexico City, to finish his engineering degree. For his final year project, he worked on the optimization of culture media for micro algae strains. He joined the Bristol Centre for Functional Nanomaterials in 2016 and after working on a couple of projects, he joined the Manners group to do his PhD. His work involves the synthesis of 1D micelles for potential biomedical applications. He moved to University of Victoria in 2019 to continue his PhD. Diego enjoys cooking, eating, sports and going out with friends.
