Martin Trapero

Martin was born in Madrid, Spain, and moved to Victoria when he was 5 years old. After this jump across half of the world, he decided to stay close to home, and pursue his undergrad in Chemistry at the University of Victoria. He worked in 2021 at Dr. Leitch's lab on new Pd(0) precatalysts for cross-coupling and other applications. In the summer of 2022, he was a fellow of the Inorganic Chemistry Exchange program at Dr. Koivisto's lab at the Toronto Metropolitan University, where he worked on conductive electrospun polymers for solar cells. He is currently completing his honours thesis with the Manners group, focusing on the synthesis of main group heterocycles and polymers. In his free time, Martin plays high level soccer (including a few years with the UVic Vikes), enjoys good food (especially tapas!) and spending time with friends.
